VAST uses a DASE (Disaggregated, Shared‑Everything) architecture, which separates compute nodes from storage. This enables independent scaling of CPU and storage, eliminates east‑west traffic, and delivers high performance and horizontal scale.

Thanks to its DASE storage layer, VAST supports up to one million snapshots in a single cluster — instant, fine‑grained, and multidimensional.

VAST’s DataStore uses a combination of Storage-Class Memory (SCM) for metadata and QLC flash for capacity. It delivers high performance with enterprise endurance and long warranty support.
